Arunachal’s energy-efficient airport!

Recommended for Preparatory Grades

Greetings, my inquiring friend! Guess what? Our very own Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, recently inaugurated a super cool airport called the Donyi Polo airport in Arunachal Pradesh. It’s a big deal because it’s the first building ever built from scratch in the whole state!

Let’s dive into the details and have some fun!

Bird’s Eye Boost: Donyi Polo Airport & Kameng Power Station

  • The Donyi Polo airport is located about 15 kilometers away from the state capital, Itanagar. That’s like traveling from your house to your friend’s house, but a bit longer. It means people can now take commercial flights from this airport and go to other cities in India. Imagine flying high up in the sky like a bird!

  • Not just that, people from different parts of Arunachal Pradesh can also hop on a helicopter and reach the airport. How cool is that? The Donyi Polo airport is the fourth airport in Arunachal Pradesh that is open for business. So now, more and more people can fly and explore the beautiful state.

  • During the airport’s inauguration, Prime Minister Modi also gave the country a fantastic gift—a 600 MW Kameng Hydro Power Station. It’s like a super-duper power generator! This power station will make sure that Arunachal Pradesh has more electricity than it needs. No more power shortages! Yay!

  • Guess what? The Kameng Hydro Power Station is not only powerful but also friendly to the environment. India wants to use more green energy, and this project helps achieve that goal. It also makes the National Grid, which is like a big network of electricity, more stable and connected. So, it’s a win-win for everyone and for our planet too!

  • So, from all these exciting details, we can infer that Prime Minister Modi and his team really want to make Arunachal Pradesh a better place. They are building new things like the Donyi Polo airport and the Kameng Hydro Power Station to improve the lives of the people who live there. It’s like they’re saying, “Hey, Arunachal Pradesh, we’ve got your back!”

Nature Tribute: Donyi Polo Airport

  • The name of the airport, Donyi Polo, is special because it honors the customs and diverse cultural legacy of Arunachal Pradesh. They also named it after the Sun (locally known as “Donyi”) and the Moon (locally known as “Polo”). So, it’s a way to show respect to nature too.

  • The terminal building at the airport is super fancy and high-tech! It’s designed to recycle resources, save energy, and use renewable energy sources. It’s like a smart building that cares about the environment. Way to go, Donyi Polo airport!

  • The runway at the airport is 2,300 meters long. That’s like having 23 football fields lined up together! It’s perfect for airplanes to take off and land, even if the weather is not so nice. Safety first, right?

  • At its busiest time, the airport can handle up to 200 passengers per hour. That’s a lot of people traveling in and out of Arunachal Pradesh! It will make it easier for people to connect with each other and bring more trade and tourism to the area. Hello, new adventures!

  • So, my little buddy, Prime Minister Modi did something super amazing by inaugurating the Donyi Polo airport and giving us the Kameng Hydro Power Station. Now, people can fly in and out of Arunachal Pradesh, and the state will have more electricity than it needs.

  • It’s all part of making our country greener and better connected. Get ready for some exciting times ahead in Arunachal Pradesh. Keep an eye on the sky and get ready to soar high like a bird!
