12 Indians feature in first-ever Forbes Asia’s 100 Digital Stars list

Yesterday, we read about Forbes Magazine’s 100 most powerful women of the year.
This year, Forbes Asia also launched its first-ever Forbes Asia’s 100 Digital Stars list. It features 100 celebrities and groups from across Asia who have had a strong influence this year on social media. They have also used their influence to support important issues such as the COVID-19 pandemic.
Some of the big names on the list include the very popular Korean pop (K-pop) groups BTS, Blackpink and Twice. BTS is a seven-member boy band from South Korea and is one of the world’s most successful musical groups ever. Their song Dynamite made YouTube history as the first video to get over 100 million views within 24 hours of being posted.
Other famous names on the list include Hollywood stars Hugh Jackman and Chris Hemsworth, action star Donnie Yen, Chinese celebrities Chris Wu, Lu Han and Japanese boy band Arashi. It also includes South Korean actors Lee Min-ho and Ji Chang-Wook.
Indians on Asia’s 100 Digital Stars list
12 Indians feature on the list this year. They include actors Akshay Kumar, Amitabh Bachchan, Alia Bhatt, Katrina Kaif, Shah Rukh Khan, Anushka Sharma, and Ranveer Singh.
Akshay Kumar is Bollywood’s highest-paid actor and has over 131 million followers on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
For the list, Forbes Asia considered the celebrities’ social media reach as well as their impact and recognition on TV. Only those active in film, music and TV were chosen.
