Australian Open: Karolina Muchova, Serena Williams reach semi-finals

The 2021 Australian Open is currently underway in Melbourne.
In women’s singles, Czech player Karolina Muchova beat world number one Ashleigh Barty to reach her first Grand Slam semi-final. Muchova will play American Jennifer Brady for a place in the final.
Serena Williams beat Simona Halep to reach the semi-finals as well. She will play against Naomi Osaka for a spot in the final. If Serena wins this year’s Australian Open, it will be a record 24th Grand Slam trophy for her.
In the 2021 Australian Open men’s singles, Novak Djokovic beat Alexander Zverev to reach the semi-finals. He will face Russian player Aslan Karatsev in the next round.
Another Russian player, Daniil Medvedev, also reached the semi-finals. He will play against either Stefanos Tsitsipas or Rafael Nadal, who are currently playing.
Spectators are now allowed back to see the Australian Open matches as the COVID-19 lockdown in Melbourne is over.
