Chennai Super Kings are the 2021 IPL champions

On 15 October, the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) beat the Kolkata Knight Royals (KKR) to win the 2021 IPL (Indian Premier League) trophy.
It is the 4th IPL trophy for CSK, lead by their captain MS Dhoni. They beat Eoin Morgan-led KKR by 27 runs in the final in Dubai, UAE. KKR had never lost an IPL final before this.

- In the final match, CSK batted first, scoring 192 runs for 3 wickets. CSK’s Faf du Plessis was the highest scorer with 86 runs off 59 balls. He was later awarded the player of the match.

- The player of the tournament (or most valuable player) went to Harshal Patel of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). Harshal Patel also won the Purple Cap award for taking the most wickets (32).
- Moreover, CSK’s Ruturaj Gaikwad was the highest run-scorer this IPL season with 635 runs. He won the Orange Cap for being the highest run-scorer and also won the Emerging Player of the Year award.
