Diver spots human-sized jellyfish on UK coast

Biologist Lizzie Daly encountered a barrel jellyfish while exploring the waters as a part of the “Wild Ocean Week”.
- The barrel jellyfish was at least 5 feet long.
- She had started a campaign called “Wild Ocean Week” to raise awareness about marine conservation, in Falmouth, Cornwall.
- Barrel jellyfish are the largest species of jellyfish found in British waters.
- It can have a diameter of up to 90cm and can weigh up to 35kg.
- They have eight arms, which are frilly in appearance. These frills contain their small stinging tentacles that surround hundreds of mouths and have a harmless sting.
- They feed on plankton (marine/ water organisms that are too small to swim in the water current) and are usually found in the summer and autumn months in the United Kingdom.
