Doctor Sunil Kumar Hebbi – Angel on wheels

It’s stories like Doctor Sunil Kumar Hebbi’s that strengthen our beliefs. It also gives us the strength and courage to move forward. At a time when the whole world seems to be fighting to stay afloat from the pandemic and its “nth” variant. Kids, please put your hands together for Doctor Sunil Kumar Hebbi.

A decade long selfless service

For almost a decade this angel from the Silicon Valley of India has organised more than 800 medical camps. Doctor Sunil Kumar Hebbi has treated more than lac patients free of cost. Well not “free”, he has used up his savings to pay for their medical needs.

Let’s pause and look back

Long ago, a challenging moment on the busy Chennai-Hosur highway changed his belief system forever. After helping an accident victim, he thought to himself, “Why shouldn’t he do something for the needful, who otherwise wouldn’t be able to afford medical services and attention?”

From that moment onwards, he quit his job and began a non-governmental organisation Matrusiri Foundation. And it has been no looking back, in addition to the foundation, he also runs a mobile clinic travelling from one location to another serving patients.

A boon during COVID-19

His services during the pandemic have been invaluable. Planning for the day, carrying all the equipment in the car, driving throughout the day and sometimes nights. He attentively works and serves as many people as possible.

Curious Times salutes Dr Hebbi

He never forgets the struggles his parents went through to get him through his education. He always strives to do the best in life and at Curious Times we salute such unsung heroes.
