Future of Emergency Power & Clean Water!

Recommended for Preparatory Grades

When natural disasters happen, one of the first things that can stop working is electricity. But Sesame Solar has come up with a solution to provide power for emergency crews and people who have had to leave their homes.

They call it a Nanogrid, and it looks like a food truck. But instead of food, it has solar panels that charge the batteries inside.

The company says one Nanogrid can produce enough electricity to power four to six houses.

Important Details

  • The Nanogrid is powered by the sun and hydrogen.
    • Further, the hydrogen is made from water and stored in tanks.
    • It can be used to charge the batteries when they get low.
  • The Nanogrid also has a water filtration system that can provide up to 500 litres of clean water each day.
    • And it has a 5G network so people can get online.
  • The Nanogrid can be customized to meet different needs.
    • It can be made as a medical unit or a communications hub.
  • A single Nanogrid can cost anywhere from $100,000 to $375,000.
  • The company says it’s the world’s first 100% renewable mobile power system.
  • Sesame Solar’s Nanogrids can be used during natural disasters to provide electricity and clean water.
    • They’re designed to be like food trucks and can power up to six homes.
  • Nanogrid is powered by the sun and hydrogen, so it doesn’t need fossil fuels like diesel or natural gas.
    • It also has a water filtration system and a 5G network.
  • Importantly, the Nanogrid can be customized for different purposes.
