Heatwaves and Rainfall: Weather update

Several parts of India have been recording high temperatures for a long time. The heatwaves have been increasing and it is having adverse effects on the people.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted an increase in heatwaves in the northwest and central parts of India.

As per the report by IMD, there will be a heatwave for the next five days and later, the temperature will fall by two to three degrees.

Severe heatwaves conditions are predicted in isolated regions over West Rajasthan until 16th May. The heatwave will prevail over Gujarat, Jammy & Kashmir, Delhi, Madhya Pradesh and Vidarbha region till 16th May.
Also, as per the India Meteorological Department, the Southwest monsoon would advance into the South Andaman Sea and adjoining Bay of Bengal around 15th May. Kerala can expect the early arrival of the monsoon.
The weather department has forecasted moderate rainfall at many places in India. Moreover, heavy rainfall is predicted in isolated places like coastal Andhra Pradesh due to cyclone Asani.
There is a prediction of rainfall over northeastern states of India including Arunachal Pradesh and Meghalaya during the next four to five days.
