China’s Communist Party reelected Xi Jinping as general secretary for five years. This allowed Xi Jinping to become China’s first three-term president. China moves toward one-man control again.

Delegates elected 205 party officials to the Central Committee. The Central Committee elects the powerful Politburo Standing Committee, which Xi Jinping will lead again.

Political experts state that Xi’s reappointment and Politburo appointments show that “political loyalty is vitally crucial”.
