  • Whereas Akha Teej is the name of the festival celebrated in the western states of Gujarat and Rajasthan.
  • According to mythological tales the God of Money is Lord Kubera.
  • And Hindu Goddess Lakshmi is associated with riches and good fortune.
  • So, on this day Lord Kubera, appealed to the Hindu Goddess Lakshmi!
  • On Akshay Tritiya, she was moved by Lord Kuber’s devotion and showered him with gifts of money and fortune.
  • On Akshaya Tritiya, people in India spend money on gold, valuable jewellery, and monetary investments, all in the name of the same belief.
