Holy Month of Ramadan 2022, UAE!

Recommended for Preparatory Grades

The holy month of Ramadan (2 April 2022 to 2 May 2022) has begun. Worshippers look forward to a stress-free experience as Covid safety standards relax.

There are twelve months in the Islamic calendar, and Ramadan is the ninth one. Muslims believe it is the holiest month of the year because it was the month that Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) was given the holy text of the Quran.

Ramadan is the month of prayer, generosity, and good fortune. During Ramadan, Muslims who are able to do so must not eat or drink from dawn to dusk. It’s one of the five pillars of Islam to fast like this.

Ramadan Rations!

In Ramadan, it’s important to give and share, especially with people who don’t have much to give back. The Emirates Red Crescent (ERC) is trying to help poor families get the food they need. It gives out hundreds of tonnes of Ramadan rations (food and other basic necessities) to people in need. Some seven million people benefit from the Ramadan Ration programmes run in these cities.

Food for sehri (pre-dawn meal) and iftar (breakfast meal) is given to the poor, disadvantaged, and needy. Wheat, rice, lentils, sugar, cooking oil, dates, and tea leaves are put into boxes and given to people who need them.

Stress-free servings during Ramadan!

  • During the holy month of Ramadan, eateries in Dubai don’t need permission or permission from the government to serve food during fasting hours. During the day, restaurants and cafes in food courts don’t have to put up screens or curtains so they can serve food to people.
  • This means that restaurant managers can decide whether or not to screen off parts of the restaurant during certain times of day when people don’t eat. When it comes to fasting hours, restaurants in the Emirate can choose whether to put curtains.

Additional bonuses to taxi drivers!

  • The Prime Minister of the UAE made the decision to give a bonus to people whose taxi number plates are used by Dubai’s Roads and Transportation Authority.  This extra money is to help people who are needy and on a fixed income during Ramadan. In addition to improving their health and happiness, this idea also helps to improve social bonding.

30 days, 30 meals!

  • Dubai has teamed up with a number of restaurants and cafes from its ‘Proudly from Dubai‘ network to bring 30 unique recipes for 30 days. It has put together a digital guide with recipes for simple Ramadan dishes from 13 restaurants and shops. The aim is to make homegrown businesses more visible.
