Padma Awards 2022

The Padma Awards 2022 are one of the highest civilian awards in the country. They are given to civilians with exceptional and distinguished service in any field by the President of India. The Padma Awards are given in three categories – Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri.

2022 Awardees

This year, 128 people received the Padma Awards. 4 people have received the Padma Vibhushan, 17 have received the Padma Bhushan and 107 people got the Padma Shri. 13 of the awards have been conferred posthumously (after the death of the person).

Notable recipients

General Bipin Rawat has been conferred posthumously the Padma Vibhushan. Shri Ghulam Nabi Azad and Shri Victor Banerjee are also among those who have been awarded the Padma Bhushan.

The list also includes vaccine makers Cyrus Poonawalla of the Serum Institue and Krishna Ella and Suchitra Ella of Bharat Biotech. Chief Executive Officers of Microsoft (Satya Nadella) and Alphabet (Sunder Pichai) are also part of the Padma Bhushan honorary list.

Padma Shri awardees

Awardees include Neeraj Chopra, Olympic Gold Medalist and Avani Lekhara, the first Indian woman to win gold at the Tokyo Paralympics.
