World Standards Day!

Recommended for Important Days

Every October 14, we celebrate a special day called World Standards Day. It helps us learn about important rules that keep us safe and happy. Imagine your classroom rules that help everyone get along and learn; these world standards are like those, but for the whole world!

On World Standards Day, people from all over the planet share ideas to make these rules better. This day reminds us that by working together, we can create a safe, happy, and beautiful world for everyone.

World Standards Day started in 1970. That’s over 50 years ago! It was made to remember the start of big groups with long names like the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). These groups help make important rules that everyone agrees to follow.

Scientists and professionals, like our teachers and parents, work hard to create these rules. They are like superheroes, making sure our toys, food, and cars are safe and good quality.

Every Year’s Surprise

  • Each year, World Standards Day has a special theme, like the topics we learn in class. In 2023, the theme is “Shared Vision for a Better World – Standards for Sustainable Development Goals.” It’s a big phrase, but it means working together for a happy, healthy planet.
  • Have you heard of ISO 9001? It’s like the golden rule of making things. It helps companies make sure their products, like toys and books, are the best they can be, so when you use them, you’re happy and safe.
  • World Standards Day helps everyone remember how important these rules are. Just like we feel safe and happy in our classroom with rules, these world standards make sure everything we use and do is safe and good for us and the Earth.
  • Companies and countries use these standards to make better things and protect the planet. Think of it as a global team, like your favourite sports team, all working together to win the game!
  • Every year, World Standards Day reminds us of the superhero teams that make these rules. This day celebrates how, when we all work together, we make the world a better place.
  • Even as readers, we’re part of this team! By learning and following the rules, we help make the world safe and happy. It’s like being a superhero in your own special way!
  • So, curious ones, every time World Standards Day comes around, remember it’s a day where the whole world thinks about how to be better. And always remember, every single one of you is a part of this big team, making our world a wonderful place to live, play, and grow. Like how every colour of the rainbow makes it beautiful, every person, big or small, makes our world amazing. Happy World Standards Day!
