World Vegan Day!

Recommended for Foundational Grades

World Vegan Day is celebrated annually on November 1 by vegans worldwide. Set up stalls, host potlucks, and plant memorial trees to show how veganism benefits humans, animals, and the environment.

Key facts!

  • Vegans are people who, apart from not eating or using animal products, also do not consume dairy or eat eggs and honey.
  • You can read about different types of ‘tarians’ here.
  • The first World Vegan Day was celebrated on 1 November 1994.
  • Since then, every year on 1 November, vegans all over the world hold exhibitions and discussions.
  • In these activities, they have discussions on how vegans can help to create a better Earth and environment for animals and humans.
  • World Vegan Day is not a holiday! But you can learn more about how to save animals and eat healthy foods that we get from plants on this day.
  • Some examples of vegan food that you may have already eaten are dal chawal, dosa, aloo paratha and more.
