The truth about bats!

Introduction

Hi,
So right now… sorry, first I should probably introduce myself.

Hi, my name is Sanaa Celly and today I will be telling you the surprising truth about bats. You would probably be thinking that after so much, there is nothing else to say to bats. Well, let’s start the beginning from down here.

Introduction to bats

Well, as I was saying before, you would be thinking that bats are demons. It might be surprising for you to hear that but, bats are not the ones to start COVID-19 and do all the destruction which is done right now.

And it is actually not one person it is all of us. You might be thinking I am crazy for saying/ typing this, but I’m not. The popular belief is that COVID-19 started because some people had bat food or soup. You see, if a person ate bat soup that’s their problem because bats only carry a few diseases like rabies. You see that bats eat dirty rodents or animals and that makes them a little dirty.

Did you know that there are so many species of bats and only three of them are poisoned? Out of the three only one of them feeds on mammals. So bats are just harmless creatures.

Let’s look at their pro’s down here.

Let’s have a look at the top 5 benefits of bats

  • Some bat species eat an incredible number of night-flying insects including mosquitoes. I read that they can eat as many as 1,200 insects in an hour of feeding!
  • Other bats are pollinators of the fruits and seeds we eat.
  • Fruit-eating bats help a lot with the dispersal of seeds. It is a lot of help to create and maintain the rainforests.
  • Guano is bat droppings and can be very effective fertilizers. It can help the farmers in growing the plants and that is also very helpful to us since we are eating what farmers grow. (If you are eating something right now don’t spit it out it is totally safe to eat what you want to eat)
  • I also read that a chemical named desmoteplase found in vampire bat saliva helps break down blood clots.

If you are wondering ‘how does she know so much about bats’

Well I saw this video on Ted-Ed and here is the link you want to see it in detail

Bat caves

Once I visited bat caves, no bats troubled us. We were asked to be really quiet and not utter any word as bats could be sleeping. After watching this video, I can say that you never know, some of them would have got troubled.

Now it is for us to think, should we hate bats or should we be careful about what we eat or what we do to bats. Today it is the bat, later it can be any other bird or animal. We have to be sure of how we look after the animals.

Thanks for reading.
