On March 20, the world celebrates World Oral Health Day.  Today, FDI World Dental Federation and dental industry leaders ask the world to work together to make sure that no one has to suffer from oral diseases.

The goal of World Oral Health Day is to give people the knowledge, tools, and confidence they need to keep their teeth and gums healthy.

What is FDI World Dental Federation?

The FDI World Dental Federation, or FDI (French: Fédération Dentaire Internationale), is the world’s most important group for the dental profession.

Key facts

  • In 2021, the FDI Dental Federation and other dental industry leaders started a three-year campaign called “Be Proud of Your Mouth.”
  • The goal is to make people feel good about their mouths.
  • There are some things that they want people to do to take better care of their oral health.
  • It was the first year that they talked about how oral health affects our whole health.
  • Because having a healthy mouth is important for our happiness and well-being, they want to make that point in 2023.
  • It’s a good time to talk about how oral health affects your general health and well-being.
  • As well as how innovation is working to improve the oral health of millions of people around the world. 
  • Share your plans for using social media with FDI World Dental Federations and others.
  • Everything going on throughout the world is represented on the global map.
  • People in your local area may be interested in getting part if you can be as specific as possible in your proposal.
  • The World Oral Health Day Awards will recognise outstanding initiatives.
