Happy Onam!

Onam is a Hindu harvest festival celebrated in Kerala. It is also celebrated by Malayalis all over India and the world.

Onam marks the beginning of the Malayalam year, called Kolla Varsham. The festival falls in the months of August/September every year and lasts for 10 days.

How do people celebrate this festival?

Onam is usually celebrated with a lot of festivities. People make rangoli, flower carpets, offer prayers, wear traditional clothes, have boat races, tiger dances and many more. It is also celebrated with special food and feasts, popularly knows as Onam sadhya.
