WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE HAPPY

Happy describes feeling really good, as when a person in a good mood that makes them smile. Happiness refers to this positive emotion. Happily means in a happy way. Real-life examples: Everybody has something that makes them happy. Problems arise, not when we are unhappy, but when we try to deny the unhappiness as a normal experience, as part of being alive. To not allow an emotion to just be there and pass over you, usually only intensifies the problem by strengthening that emotional state even further. By ‘pushing’ the feeling away you are doing the exact opposite of what you are intending to do.

It is normal to feel sad sometimes. All emotions are normal; just like good and bad days, good and bad movies, good and bad people.

However, ultimately they are not the whole truth. Just because you feel sad, even for a few days, it does not mean you are a “sad person”. Being happy, does not make you a “happy person”.

Try not to identify yourself with any particular emotion, good or bad, and accept that you are not your emotions, you are a person that experiences emotions, just like every other human being on the planet.Problems arise, not when we are unhappy, but when we try to deny the unhappiness as a normal experience, as part of being alive. If you were to look at a grid and see a line in the shape of a wave it would be an accurate representation of the human experience.

We shouldn’t be operating as an even, straight line. That’s what I’d call a robot or someone numbed out.

Human beings experience emotions in response to life circumstances. That means sometimes you’re going to feel happy, sad, and all the other emotions in between. Embrace it.

True happiness is not a state; it’s the way we relate to our lives.

If we’re rooted in unconditional love for ourselves, the world around us transforms.

We have the ability to express gratitude for all experiences in life. We’re able to sit with difficult emotions without denying ourselves love. We’re able to be with ourselves and with the world in a way that shapes our overall perception of our lives to one of love and gratitude. This is the path to happiness.
