The most talked about reason for celebrating Diwali is that Lord Rama came to Ayodhya after killing Ravana for 14 years, so the whole people of Ayodhya were very happy on that day. The whole of Ayodhya was illuminated by lighting lamps on the house and in front of the house.

Therefore, it is believed that Diwali started from this day.

According to another story, when Lord Krishna killed Narakasura and freed the whole of Dwarka from the torment of Narakasura, all the people of Dwarka expressed their happiness by lighting lamps. It is believed that Diwali has started since then.
