Education is an integral part of a child’s upbringing. We, at Curious Times, have made it our aim to ensure that we also play an active role in imparting the right knowledge to all the Curious children. As such, we also try to ensure that we are always in touch with the leaders in education today and learning from them. After all, it is important to learn from the best.

So, today, we present to you a one-on-one conversation with Neeru Bhaskar. She is the Principal of Delhi Public School, Jankipuram, Lucknow. The school follows a curriculum that truly believes in developing life skills in students and making them global citizens.

When did you decide to step into the world of education? What motivated you to become an Educator? I started as a teacher in 1995. Along the way, I realized ‘Teaching is my calling’. To be able to build a child’s life, to be able to channelize their thought process, to be able to contribute in bringing out a Leader, a Painter, an Artist, a Planner, an Executioner etc in children – are some of the key factors that keep motivating me to continue as an Educator.

Share some of the challenges you have faced in your career journey. How did you convert those challenges into the pillars of success? The challenges have been there but the desire to make my students truly shine has been so predominant that the challenges never mattered and were always taken in stride. This is especially when students themselves have been my pillar of strength. Their unconditional love & respect has always worked as a motivator for me and given me my confidence.

What are the changes have you observed over the years in the field of education? Are you happy with these changes? Change is the only constant…we know that. There has been a paradigm shift in pedagogies, school culture, the relationship between the Teacher & the Taught, both Parents’ & School’s approaches etc. Every change has been a necessity to keep up with the changing times and has had both good and flip sides. If I were to quote an example, the active involvement of Parents as Co-Educators is a good measure; but sometimes it’s sad to see the decline in the effort to develop respect for teachers by parents in their wards.

What changes would you like to see in the field of Education? What role can the various stakeholders like the government, teachers, students and parents play in this? I wish and pray that any individual entering the role of an educator does not take it as simply a job. ‘Teaching is a Calling’ and they must realize the power that comes in their hands as a teacher which can be a strong tool to build a right and happy childhood. A Teacher’s impact goes a long way.

Share your message with the aspiring teachers and leaders of tomorrow. Dear Aspiring Mentors, I wish and pray that each one of you turns out to be a ‘teacher-at-heart’ who would change people’s lives just because you would have sent out wonderful scholars to society – Scholars with not only intelligence but with core values of empathy & compassion, capable of success in the diverse world yet connected to their ROOTS. May you impact your students’ lives in the most positive way possible..!!

Share your message for your and Curious Times students.

Dear Students
Thank you for giving me a chance to discover my strengths & weaknesses because while teaching & grooming you, I myself evolved both as a professional & an individual. Your trust and love and respect works as a booster for me and gives me my life goals. May each one of you turn out to be a happy person and bring sunshine, hope and happiness into the lives of people around you. May you grow and enable people connected to you to grow too.!! All the Best..!!!
