Life on Island

The refreshing coconut water in the morning I drank
I could hear my silver anklets clank
I devoured the yummy herring
Watching the women work unerring

Attending to the sound of delighted brook
I was reading my favourite ‘The Island Book’
I sat on the lovely satin silky stone
And my bedecked mermaid dress was brightly shone

The sun’s golden rays were warm
And the pretty dolphins were to perform
The seagulls skid over the sea surface
And the tortoises, as usual, won the race

The green sea skirted with white cowry shells
I bet, the island had some hallucinatory spells
The vast blue sky and a huge palm tree
Counting the seashells under its lee

I passed my rest of the evening
Healthily careening
And dancing on the soft fleecy sand
Performing a pirouette and moving my hand

At night, the people gathered together
Wearing woolens in a slightly cold weather
To enjoy the bonfire under the scintillating stars
And their dexterous fingers strumming the guitars
