‘The Leap’ By Dipinder Kaur, Delhi Public School, Pataudi

When the pandemic and lockdowns were announced, we took control of the situation and prepared for online learning for students. Teachers really took this challenge very well. They were quick learners. The IT teachers and department trained all the teachers. Within a few days of lockdown, they understood the system very well. Initially, teachers also faced the problem of the network, but now they have fortified their systems and their home environment to the new system of teaching online.

Our students have adjusted really well to the online systems. But parents do not find value in studying online.

Wholeheartedly I agree, that this is the ‘new normal’ and this will continue to stay even after the schools reopen as now both the teachers and students can continue to deliver and take classes if for some reason they are unable to attend school. No one will miss out on anything.

I do wish if parents supported us wholeheartedly and realised the yeoman service teachers are doing during this pandemic! They should show more restraint and respect the teachers who are with the children 24 x 7 even now.
Our school is in a rural area. In this entire scenario, the parents are also getting educated. They also come to know what is being taught as school. They also have to accept this as the new normal and the school is with them to help them imbibe the new learning in a joyful manner.

I appreciate Curious Times for this initiative. Please keep on appreciating the teachers as they are the working force in shaping new careers of tomorrow.

Happy Teachers’ Day
