Ed Leader – Manisha Anthwal, Delhi Public School, Eldeco

Education is an integral part of a child’s upbringing. We, at Curious Times, have made it our aim to ensure that we also play an active role in imparting the right knowledge to all the Curious children. As such, we also try to ensure that we are always in touch with the leaders in education today and learning from them. After all, it is important to learn from the best.

So, today, we present to you a one-on-one conversation with Manisha Anthwal. She is the Principal of Delhi Public School, Eldeco. It aims at the all-round development of the child/individual. It focuses on the current needs and aspirations of a society, its inherent values, concerns as well as broad human ideals.

When did you decide to step into the world of education? What motivated you to become an Educator?

I came into education as a teacher of the Russian Language. This happened when I was doing my college. I entered into the field of education by chance but liked the dynamics of this sector and decided to stay on.

Share some of the challenges you have faced in your career journey. How did you convert those challenges into the pillars of success?

1. Overnight transition to complete online teaching due to pandemics is the biggest challenge that schools have ever faced. Older staff was not tech-savvy but with constant training, teachers have combated this challenge very well.
2. Bringing acceptance in parents for new concepts entering education has also been a challenge but regular orientations have helped in changing their thought process.

What are the changes have you observed over the years in the field of education? Are you happy with these changes?

Education has moved from rote to experiential learning. It has also become child-centric from being teacher-centric. These are welcome changes.

What changes would you like to see in the field of Education? What role can the various stakeholders like the government, teachers, students and parents play in this?

Changes that NEP is suggesting for restructuring of education are very good. The only concern is the implementation of the policy for which all stakeholders have to play their part. Facilitation on part of the government, effort on part of teachers and acceptance for change on part of students and parents will be required.
