Curious Times in conversation with Surbhi Menroy

Education is an integral part of a child’s upbringing. We, at Curious Times, have made it our aim to ensure that we also play an active role in imparting the right knowledge to all the Curious children. As such, we also try to ensure that we are always in touch with the leaders in education today and learning from them. After all, it is important to learn from the best.

So, today, we present to you a one-on-one conversation with Surbhi Menroy. She is the Primary School Coordinator of Delhi Public School, Sonepat. It aims at the all-round development of the child/individual. It focuses on the current needs and aspirations of a society, its inherent values, concerns as well as broad human ideals.

Curious Times: When did you decide to step into the world of education? What motivated you to become an Educator?

Surbhi Menroy: I never stepped out of it in the first place. I have been in the world of education first as a student and thereafter as an educator. It was in my formative years as a child that I was inspired by my favorite Mathematics teacher to grow to be like her one day. The indelible impact she’s laid in my life has been my all-time motivation.

Curious Times: Share some of the challenges you have faced in your career journey. How did you convert those challenges into the pillars of success?

Surbhi Menroy: Switching to digital modes of learning has by far been the biggest challenge in my career journey. But the year 2020 is proof that I have very effectively overcome that, of course with the motivation to not let the pandemic hinder the students’ learning.

Curious Times: What are the changes have you observed over the years in the field of education? Are you happy with these changes?

Surbhi Menroy: I have witnessed the education these days encompassing all the skills required for the holistic development of the child. And yes, I’m happy about it – value additions are always welcome!

Curious Times: What changes would you like to see in the field of Education? What role can the various stakeholders like the government, teachers, students and parents play in this?

Surbhi Menroy: I would like every stakeholder to feel responsible for the child’s growth. If everyone could make their own lives an example for the child to follow, learning would come as rather an obvious outcome.

Curious Times: Share your message with the aspiring teachers and leaders of tomorrow.

Surbhi Menroy: Empathy and compassion are two great traits the world needs from teachers and leaders at the workplace. I believe we should all strive to be their embodiment. Not only is this very promising for humankind on the whole, but also brings hopes for a very inclusive and bright future.

Curious Times: Share your message for your and Curious Times students.

Surbhi Menroy: Believe in yourself and be fearless in pursuing your dreams. Always just concentrate on the first step – and that is all you’re responsible for, the rest will automatically follow its own course. And also don’t be afraid to fail and try again because ” Anything worth doing is worth doing bad the first time”. So begin anyway and don’t stop until you succeed!
